Privacy Policy
FastWordCount doesn't want your text and doesn't keep it. Everything runs in your browser. This page is the full picture.
What we don't collect
- No accounts — no sign-up, so no names, emails or passwords ever.
- No text storage — your text is never sent to any server, never logged, never stored anywhere other than your own browser's memory while the page is open.
- No persistent tracking — no first-party cookies for tracking, no fingerprinting.
- No cross-site tracking pixels.
How the tool works
All counting — words, characters, sentences, paragraphs, reading time, word frequency — happens entirely in JavaScript running in your browser. No data leaves your device to perform these calculations. You can verify this by opening your browser's network panel while typing: there are no outbound requests carrying your text.
Your preferences
Your chosen theme (light or dark) and accent color are saved in your browser's localStorage. This data never leaves your device and is only used to restore your preferences on your next visit. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser's site data for fastwordcount.com.
Hosting & server logs
FastWordCount is hosted on Vercel. Vercel may keep transient access logs including IP addresses for security and abuse prevention. These are standard operational logs, not analytics, and are not tied to any content you type into the tool.
Analytics
We use privacy-focused analytics — Vercel Analytics and Ahrefs Analytics — to count anonymous pageviews. These tools do not use cookies and do not track individual visitors across sites. We see roughly how many people visit and which pages are loaded — not who you are or what you type.
Children
FastWordCount is not directed at children under 13. Since we collect no identifying information from anyone, this is essentially moot — but stated here for completeness.
Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect or how we handle data, we'll update this page and the date below.
